Angels Fall First is the debut studio album by Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish. The album was released in the US by Century Media in March 2001. Even though the only single, The Carpenter reached number three on the Finnish singles chart, Nightwish failed to gain national fame until the release of their second studio album, Oceanborn. The male vocals heard on Beauty and the Beast, The Carpenter, Astral Romance and Once Upon a Troubadour&qu. Angels Fall First is the debut studio album by Nightwish, initially released on November 1st, 1997when Nightwish was a quartet. It is also the only Nightwish album on which the vocals of band leader Tuomas Holopainen are heard. The album was released in the United States under the Century Media label in March 2001. When then tiny independent record label Spinefarm decided to take a chance on a brand new group called Nightwish by releasing a modest 500-unit pressing of their first album, Angels Fall First originally recorded as a simple demo, little did they know this would quickly evolve into their biggest future cash cow, and one of Finland's most successful bands. They recorded Angels Fall First and the following summer they recruited bassist Sami Vanska. Sami remained with them for 2 full-lengths Wishmaster and Oceanborn and an EP Over The Hills And Far Away before leaving near the end of 2001. He was replaced by Marco Hietala who also took over the role of male vocalist :-Dfrom Tarot and Sinergy. The Carpenter - 5:57 - The Carpenter is the first single the band ever released. A very good song, one of the best on the album. Has some really mellow verses and the choruses become heavier. Its a song about Jesus that really doesn't come across as preachy at all.
