A second album, simply titled New Trolls, followed two years later 1970 as a compilation of their singles. By the end of the same year New Trolls would have faced their first line-up change, when Mauro Chiarugi left the band. The other members managed to go on as a quartet. With the court case settled De Scalzi was again able to use the name New Trolls, despite this Tempi dispari was rather unsuccessful. The disappointment of Tempi dispari triggered the breakup of the De Scalzi led incarnation of New Trolls. Amazingly, De Scalzi rejoined his old friendrival Di Palo and drummer Belleno for a new chapter in New Trolls' history. Tempi Dispari is a magical live album from 1974 by the ATOMIC SYSTEM variation of The NEW TROLLS, led by guitarist Vittorio De Scalzi after three members left to form what would end up being IBIS. De Scalzi is joined by future Nova keyboards player Renato Rosset, who influences this variation in a more jazzy oriented way than any other NEW TROLLS incarnation. The band play here two side-long suites with side 1 really exploring the Jazz theme and side 2 including a theme from Concerto Grosso 1 of excellent and innovative music with very heavy Miles Davis-like jazz prog r. New Trolls : Tempi Dispari,альбом, рецезия, трек-лист, mp3, тексты песен. 1974's Tempi Dispari was the second and final album using the N. Atomic System name, from an era where the legality of the New Trolls name was still in dispute. Vittorio De Scalzi obviously wanting to continue on as New Trolls but instead as N. Atomic System with new musicians, and Nico Di Palo first recording with Frank Laugelli, Maurizio Salvi, and Gianni Bellano under their first names with the album Canti d'Innocenza Canti d'Esperienza in 1973 with the giant question mark on the cover, before being given the name. Ibis and recording two more albums with lineup chang. It's about time New Trolls Atomic System is included in here, mainly for Tempi Dispari. NT Atomic System's name came out of a legal dispute between Vittorio De Scalzi and Nico Di Palo following the breakup of the old band after the release of UT at the end of 1972. As mentioned the 1973 album was a prog rock album, but Tempi Dispari is full on jazz rockfusion, and it's nothing short of amazing, even though it was recorded live. For all who love this kind of music, this is an essential purchase, although it would be a big jolt for the progheads used to their more prog-oriented material. Lots of electric piano, sax, some spacy synths creeping in from time to time, some Hammond organ. New Trolls: Live. Atomic System. Tempi Dispari. All Albums of New Trolls . Website image policy. It's almost unbelievable the drastic change of direction this edition of New Trolls (called N.T. Atomic System because of legal reasons, but this particular release bears the New Trolls name, seemingly the legal matter had finally been solved by this time, Vittori De Scalzi was able to continue on as New Trolls while Nico Di Palo was by now continuing on with his band as Ibis). The album just called N.T. Atomic System very much stayed in the prog direction (with the exception of the folk rock of "Butterfly"). This one is all-out fusion, and they do a great job at it too! This was recorded live, and this is just full of killer playing from all around. Lots of electric piano, synths, guitar and organ are also used, plus sax. There is a part where a theme from Concerto Grosso per 1 is revisited (briefly) to let you know this is New Trolls, or at least a version with Vittorio De Scalzi clearly in charge. It appears many seem to dislike this album and refer to it as a "disappointment". I can't understand why. Probably those expecting another one like the 1973 N.T. Atomic System album and instead got fusion. If you love fusion, you'll love this. It's definitely not your typical New Trolls release. Certainly an album I'd recommend any fusion fan wanting to venture out of their Weather Report/Mahavishnu Orchestra/Return to Forever comfort zone. I like it when a band I already enjoy tries something different but still put out a great album, and Tempi Dispari proves that. Your fusion collection just isn't complete without it.

Oh yeah, I typed "Tempi dispari" in the Google Translate, and it translates as "Odd time signatures". That sounds about right. It makes sense given the front cover bears all those numbers. Plus the track titles were apparently the meters the band were performing in. But I found it amusing the album called track two "13/18", when there's no such thing as a "13/18" meter as there's no such thing as an 18th note. But the label on the original LP does call it "13/8" which at least makes sense, meaning 13 eighth notes to the bar. "7/4" being the meter of the first cut. Odd meters were common in jazz, so no surprise why this album should lean closer to jazz, or at least jazz rock and fusion.
