Info
Power, Corruption & Lies is the second studio album by English rock band New Order, released on 2 May 1983 by Factory Records. The album features more electronic tracks than their 1981 debut Movement, with heavier use of synthesizers. It was included in the top 100 albums of the 1980s lists in both Rolling Stone and Pitchfork. Peter Saville's design for the album had a colour-based code to represent the band's name and the title of the album, but they were not actually written on the original UK. Taking a huge cleanup after the goth power of Movement, Power, Corruption, and Lies tells us through its minimalistic pile of roses that looks can be deceiving. While Blue Monday was only on the American version, the biggest-selling 12 single wasnt just noticeable here. Ecstasy points to reminiscence of Joy Division and the drug itself, while 5 8 6 starts slow but quickly gains momentum. It wasnt that New Order sounded like they were trying to make a statement-if anything, its the musics naivete and offhandedness that resonates, proof that whatever faceless automation rock fans feared as electronic music moved into the mainstream had less to do with the machines than the people using them. Power, Corruption and Lies is the second album made by New Order. It was released 2 May 1983 with Factory Records. The song Age of Consent is considered one of the best New Order songs of all time. After making songs such as Temptation, Everything's Gone Green, and Video 586, New Order thought it was about time to make a full album full of the synthpop and alternative dance they invented. While recording said album they thought of some titles for their album, like How Does It Feel
