22 Piano Concerto No. Although there are other, later Richter recordings of Mozart Piano Concertos No. 22 and No. 27, they can't really touch these recordings from June 13, 1967, and June 16, 1965. The reason is not as much the pianist as the accompanist. Make no mistake, the pianist is quite wonderful - Richter's way with Mozart is strong but subtle, soulful but reserved, spiritual but earthy and his interpretations here are straightforward yet sublime - but the accompanist in both these performances is the truly inimitable Benjamin Britten.
