Von Otter has also chosen to perform two lesser numbers 17th-century Italians Antonio Bertali and Giovanni Legrenzi, neither of which struck me as exceptional. The quality of the music is matched by mostly very good performing. Famous for her sleek and flawless mezzo, von Otter does the slower passages beautifully. I found her singing of the opening Monteverdi madrigal Con che soavita fluid and musical. The two Purcell songs, slow and majestic, are likewise presented almost perfectly by von Otter.
