Listen free to Mitch Ryder Live Talkies It's All Over Now, Corporate Song It's Not For Me and more. 15 tracks 71:39. High octane, turbo, high performance, super charged MITCH RYDER & The Detroit Wheels didn't need to hail from the Motor City for those adjectives to be tossed their way, but it was certainly appropriate that they called Motown home. It was Mitch and The Wheels who served as the musical bridge between the Motown soul factory and the high energy, take no prisoners rock 'n' roll that would roar out of Detroit via Iggy & The Stooges, MC5, Ted Nugent and Bob Seger. In his brief liners to this disc, Ryder describes this as a live album cut in a studio, just running though their regular set of the time. The result is a session with longer-than-usual intros and soloing and a looseness that usually doesn't happen on a studio recording. Mixing up a set between angry Ryder originals and severely reworked R&B classics, this sounds more like the tape machine left running than an actual produced session. Mitch Ryder born William Sherille Levise, Jr. February 26, 1945 is an American musician, who has recorded more than 25 albums over more than four decades. Ryder is noted for his gruff, wailing singing style and his dynamic stage performances. He was influenced by his father, a musician. As a teenager, Ryder sang backup with a black soul-music group known as the Peps, but racial animosities interfered with his continued presence in the group. Licensed by American Jade, Inc. Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2000. Format: Audio CD. Mitch Ryder is an overlooked master of rock and roll. Nine out of ten times a Ryder record comes rolling off the radio rhythm review it's an Oldie wid d'Detroit Wheels. But Ryder's greatest music began with his late '60s solo album DETROIT-MEMPHIS EXPERIMENT and he continues to make hard-bodied, punchy albums. But these are almost totally ignored. in the USA
