It was released on CD and 7-inch vinyl in 2003 through Dischord Records. The album comprises previously unreleased demo versions of material which appears on the band's subsequent recordings. I wanted to be excited for the release of Minor Threat's first demo, recently unearthed. But let me be serious about one thing, and do not let this album's silly numbers overhead fool you for even a second: Minor Threat may be the single most important band in the history of hardcore. Although they lacked a fraction of the Bad Brains' soul-core musicianship, their riff-heavy attack was sharper, leaner, and at least as meaningful to the D. hardcore sound they helped forge innovative enough to separate themselves from the heavier SoCal sound made famous, coincidentally, by their good friend Henry Rollins' Black Flag and scores of imitators. Overall Minor Threats First Demo provide a look at one of hardcores most definitive and important bands, while it may prove to be of lower quality than the bands later works, those who enjoy Minor Threat and hardcore in general may find this to be a historically important and interesting release and for those trying to get into hardcore the.
