Michael Nesmith, The First National Band. Michael Nesmith. Magnetic South & Loose Salute. Nesmith also took over as producer, and he gets a tougher and tighter sound from the band than Felton Jarvis managed on Magnetic South. Loose Salute doesn't cohere quite as well as Magnetic South, but the material is strong, the band sounds great, and Michael Nesmith offered even more surprises than he had in his first turn at bat it's one of the strongest records in his catalog as a solo artist. Track Listing. Loose Salute is the second solo album by American singer-songwriter Michael Nesmith during his post-Monkees career. Released by RCA Records in 1970 and dedicated to Tony Richland, it peaked at No. 159 on the Billboard Pop Albums charts. The version of Listen to the Band featured on the album is the song's third version previous versions appeared on 33 13 Revolutions Per Monkee featuring The Monkees' final performance of the 1960s with Peter Tork and as a late-1969 single by The Monkees. The First National Band Lyrics. I Fall To Pieces Ft. Thanx for the Ride Ft. Dedicated Friend Ft. Loose Salute. Michael Nesmith, the first national band. Loose Salute, the second album by Michael Nesmith and the First National Band, proved to be one of their finer efforts. It opens with Silver Moon, one of Nesmith's finest songs, and one of the best country-rock tunes ever created. It is worth buying an entire album to hear a song this good. Fortunately, Loose Salute has other strong songs to recommend it. The cover of I Fall to Pieces is simply amazing. Dedicated Friend and Bye Bye Bye are rollicking, fun country-rock numbers. Thanx for the Ride is a polite kiss-off Nesmith once. Album 1970 17 Songs. Featured On. Michael Nesmith Essentials. Michael Nesmith: Next Steps
