The resulting disc, Over There, subtitled Songs of War and Peace c. 1900-1920 by Berlin, Cohan, Lehár, Schoenberg, Weill and many more, is actually two different collections of material stuck together. First up is a batch of Tin Pan Alley songs and show tunes associated with World War I, including Over There, Oh How I Hate to Get Up in the Morning, and It's a Long Way to Tipperary but not, sadly, Mademoiselle from Armentieres . While mostly World War One songs reflecting British, American, and some German experiences, there is also some music from the early post-war 20's which I like. Michael Feinstein's singing is clear and if you're not careful you'll be singing along as well. Hopefully people in your office or on your bussubway have a sense of humor.
