Shoegaze band Medicines Wet on Wet EP was released in November 2002, putting an end to the groups seven-year hiatus. The EP also introduced Medicines new lineup: founder Brad Laner was the only remaining original member, while Shannon Lee was the groups new vocalist having replaced Beth Thompson. The lineup would hold for their next album, 2003s The Mechanical Forces of Love, which featured two of the songs included on Wet on Wet: the title track, and the opening track, Astral Gravy.
