Info
Creem Magazine presents this totally great film by Leni Sinclair and Cary Loren, Kick Out the Jams. OK, one wishes they would come up with a title other than that of a debut album, confusing projects is easy in this age of too much media, but this DVD movie - featuring '60s footage of the band that Leni Sinclair shot, captures the essence of the group in a way that the vinyl format simply couldn't. The bonus track is an intentionally grainy and bizarre black-and-white interview with John Sinclair from November 19, 2003, which is told while Peyoteland, from Sinclair and Monster Island, plays behind it. At long last, watch Leni Sinclair's original Kick Out The Jams promo footage as the speed performed by the MC5. Shot at three separate incendiary performances - on location at Detroit's Grande Ballroom, The Village Pub Out the Jams features many never before seen films of the MC5 as created by Leni Sinclair & conceptual artist Cary Loren during the peak of their career. Rock music is awesome, here's another list for my comprehensive Letterboxd music list this time containing a heap of rock . Here's MC5 filmed live on the campus of Wayne State University in Michigan and aired on hometown TV show Detroit Tubeworks in 1970 doing their biggest in album MC5 - Kick Out The Jams 1969. This film is a 30 minute collage of vintage historic MC5 footage taken by band photographer and documentary artist Leni Sinclair. Some of the earliest known footage dates from 1966, perhaps earlier. There are shots from the infamous Grande Ballroom, the Detroit Love-in on Belle Isle, and outdoor summer free concerts in Ann Arbor. Kick Out the Jams features many never before seen films of the MC5 as created by Leni Sinclair & conceptual artist Cary Loren during the peak of their career. Tracks include: ''Kick Out The Jams,'' ''Come Together,'' ''Looking At You,'' and more. Bonus footage includes a wild interview with MC5 manageragitatoractivist John Sinclair. Film makers Leni Sinclair and Cary Loren pulled together to assemble this retrospect of the life, good times and career of the Motor City Five. I'm assuming they managed to collect several super 8 silent home movies of the band playing at a college campus, a school party and at regular concert venues. Kick Out The Jams - MC5.
