Mary's Danish. Experience: Live Foxey Lady. Live albums are usually an afterthought, but this unfortunately brief but extremely satisfying live document is an important part of the Mary's Danish discography. The Los Angeles sextet were occasionally almost too eclectic on their studio albums, veering from style to style quick enough to give the listener whiplash, but these live tracks showcase the group at their best. Mary's Danish was an alternative rock band that was formed in Los Angeles, California in the late 1980s which released four albums, with the last in 1992. Mary's Danish blended a musical mixture of rock, funk, country and soul elements. Named after a line in an old songwriting attempt, the band was led by two female lead singers, Gretchen Seager and Julie Ritter. Mary's Danish were as varied thematically as they were sonically, with religion, domestic violence, social criticism and biting self-analysis all receiving narrative attention. The newly cemented group signed with Chameleon Records in 1989 and released their debut album 'There Goes the Wondertruck'. A live album was released later in the year titled Experience Live Foxy Lady. Five of the six live tracks on Experience are more fully realized versions of songs from 'There Goes the Wondertruck', particularly a frenzied, beefier Blue Stockings and the high lonesome croon of It'll Probably Make Me Cry.
