The 5th Elephant - Virtualectric Stories. Lutz Glandien. In October 1997, Lutz Glandien MIDI guitar, Michael Vogt tuba, and Chris Cutler drums recorded a studio session they agreed to forget about. A year later the composer came back to the tapes, tore them apart in his computer, and put together 12 short pieces that owe very little in their final form to the music that gave them life. The process recalls to some extent Bob Ostertag's project Say No More, but Glandien's results follow more listener-friendly principles. Your feedback. The 5th Elephant: Virtualectric Stories by Lutz Glandien Year: 2002 Overall rank: - Average Rating: 73100 from 1 vote. My favourite store. Your feedback for The 5th Elephant: Virtualectric Stories. The 5th Elephant offers precious few clues as to what the group actually sounded like, because Glandien's subsequent deconstruction and reconstruction of the tapes over an ensuing three year period leaves virtually nothing intact. The music has become almost completely electroacoustic, with drums, guitar, and tuba sonically distorted to such an extent that no recognizable timbres remain save for an occasional touch of conventional percussion and something that sounds a bass trombone on one later track obviously the tuba. Elephant is the fourth studio album by the American rock duo the White Stripes. It was released on April 1, 2003, through V2, XL, and Third Man. The album garnered critical acclaim and commercial success, earning a nomination for Album of the Year and a win for Best Alternative Music Album at the 46th Grammy Awards in 2004, peaking at number six in the US Billboard charts and topping the UK album charts.
