Music from The Elder was the first album with drummer Eric Carr and the last album to feature Ace. Music from The Elder was a rock opera that went wrong in just about every way possible. Music from The Elder is the ninth studio album released by American rock band Kiss on the Casablanca Records label in 1981. After just about the whole world turned their back on Kiss following the release of their soft, pop-influenced 'Unmasked' record, the band decided to make a return to more familiar hard rock territory. As a bad Genesis album, I give it a two. The band didnt even have a proper tour to support the album, only making a couple of TV appearances. The album marked a substantial departure from their previous output with its concept and orchestral elements. The result was a dull mix of mediocre prog-rock that bears little resemblance to the quartet that gave us such iconic albums as Destroyer and Love Gun. To prevent anyone from hearing what they were up to, Ezrin and the band worked in total isolation. With founding drummer Peter Criss officially out of the band and Ace Frehley soon to follow, the band recruited 'Destroyer' producer Bob Ezrin to help them reconnect with their glory days.
