The Brandenburg Concertos by Johann Sebastian Bach BWV 10461051, original title: Six Concerts à plusieurs instruments are a collection of six instrumental works presented by Bach to Christian Ludwig, Margrave of Brandenburg-Schwedt, in 1721 though probably composed earlier. They are widely regarded as some of the best orchestral compositions of the Baroque era. The Brandenburg Concertos find their foremost exponent in Karl Richter and these recordings leave one in little doubt that J. Bach was a genius and the greatest composer of the Baroque era. It is hard to believe that the Margrave of Brandenburg's orchestra failed to perform these sublime concertos.
