Info
An Ideal for Living is the first EP by the English post-punk band Joy Division. It was released in 1978 by the band's own label, Enigma, shortly after the group changed its name from Warsaw. All tracks were recorded at Pennine Sound Studios in Oldham on 14 December 1977. The recording sessions were self-financed by the band, on a budget of 400. The release reflects the band's early punk influences, as opposed to the post-punk style they later developed. 50 видео Воспроизвести все Микс Joy Division - An Ideal For Living EP - 1978YouTube. The record was made shortly after they renamed the bands name from Warsaw to Joy Division. Released in 1978 by the bands own label, Enigma, this record cost 400. The cover was originally a black-and-white picture of a Hitler-Jugend member drawn by Bernard Sumner referred to as Bernard Albrecht at the time with the band name of Joy Division printed in a blackletter font. When the EP was reissued on 12-inch vinyl, the original cover was replaced by artwork showing scaffolding, making the original 7 a notable rarity for collectors. An Ideal. Joy Division's first release showcases clearly the group's punk roots. Warsaw is classic rushed hardcore complete with shouted vocals, while Failures simply slows the tempo a bit to become a punk-influenced hard-rock number. No Love Lost is almost an instrumental selection, with very late-entering vocals that seem like an afterthought. Most indicative of the group's later releases is the slower-tempo Leaders of Men, which allows Ian Curtis' bleak lyrics to come to the fore. However, here even Ian's vocals seem to be in a slightly different tone than on Unknown Pleasures, which is strange seeing as Pleasures was released barely over a year after An Ideal for Living. While I said this EP does not give a listener a significant or insightful listen on Joy Division's signature eerie sound, it does still have dark lyrical themes as well as an abrasive and fast-paced oldschool punk sound. I believe An Ideal For Living is the best book on Joy Division. It was the first JD book I ever bought, and it still holds up well. The choice of photos and the layout of the book really suit Joy Divisionearly New Order's visual ethic, as well. This is an amazing book, an incredible compilation of small facts, written and put together as a diary, almost day by day, while those kids were having their - day in day out - time of their lives. It is a book for those who love Joy Division and wish to get closer to the atmosphere they breathed, through a very detailed text. Sometimes, it seems like a live transmission from the past. Formed in the wake of the punk explosion in England, Joy Division became the first band in the post-punk movement by later emphasizing not anger and energy but mood and expression, pointing ahead to the rise of melancholy alternative music in the '80. read more. similar to. joydivision Albums.
