This album contains a collection of songs from a time and a place everyone goes, but won't necessarily admit to. Its a collection of summer jams recorded to prove to the outside world that I can release an album that contains absolutely no versions of songs from Buck Up Princess... This brief album is dedicated to summer tummies, BBQ's, and getting bizzy. It is also an example of some of the musical directions I've been working on as THE REAL NEW ALBUM takes shape. Its coming along really well and when its done, i think it'll smash all the other albums to bits. But here we are now and I'm very proud of Midriff's Musics. Its summer music for the winter blues, its background tunes for dry humping, its skater rap for rollerbladers, its all that and then some, its the soundtrack of awkard teenage mating. Most of all, its brand new. So chew on it for a second. Good things acoming.

Though Martinez has a tough, at times aggressive verbal style, these 11 songs are built on mellow mid-tempo beats, acoustic guitars, flutes, piano, clavinet, and other touchstones of the softer side of '70s rock and R&B. This tension between the laid-back music and Martinez's kinetic raps makes Midriff Music an intriguing listen, particularly on those songs on which. Martinez' 2005 solo album, Midriff Music, produced by Southern California DJ Samix won the Best Rap Recording award at the 2005 Western Canadian Music Awards. After the success of his many solo albums and Chicharones material, he proceeded to work on material for his follow-up solo album, World Famous Sex Buffet.
