Cat Scratch Fever is the third studio album by American hard rock musician Ted Nugent. The album was released on May 13, 1977, by Epic Records. Vocalist Derek St. Holmes, who had left the band during the recording of the album Free-for-All, had come back for touring in 1976 and was again the principle lead singer on this album. A commercial success, the album has been certified multi-platinum by the RIAA. Nugent released his next album, Double Live Gonzo, the following year. Cat Scratch Fever. While the title track is a certified classic anthem the only solo Nugent single to crack the Top 30, other tracks are just as delightful, such as the oh-so-subtle Wang Dang Sweet Poontang. Cat Scratch Fever is a real condition: it's an infectious disease caused by a cat scratch that usually affects young children. Nugent, however, changes the meaning to make it much more lustful, with the cats being women. Nugent sang lead on this - something he didn't do early in his career. Cat Scratch Fever was Nugent's third album, and featured vocal contributions from Derek St. Holmes, who also sang on Nugent's first album before being replaced by Meat Loaf for the second: Free For All.
