Change We Must is the seventh solo album by Yes lead singer Jon Anderson, released in 1994. The album contains new material and orchestral arrangements of songs from Anderson's past. State of Independence: original version on the Jon & Vangelis album The Friends of Mr Cairo 1981. Hearts: original version on the Yes album 90125 1983. Hurry Home and Under the Sun: original versions on In the City of Angels 1988, the latter as It's on Fire. Candle Song as Anyone Can Light a Candle. Jon Anderson, born John Roy Anderson on 25 October 1944, is an English musician, best known as the lead singer of the progressive rock band Yes. He is also an accomplished solo artist, and has collaborated with the Greek musician Vangelis, as part of the duo Jon & Vangelis. Early life and childhood Jon Anderson was born in the town of Accrington, Lancashire, England, in a family of Scottish and Irish ancestry, his parents being Albert and Kathleen Anderson. State of Independence is, if anything, far better than the original track from Friends of Mr Cairo, the orchestra giving it a far more bold and expansive feel. Anderson sings quite marvellously. Hearts is, perhaps, the biggest surprise. Change We Must also features further material co-written by Jon Anderson and Vangelis, including the album's title track, 'The Kiss' and 'Candle Song'. Under the Sun. State of Independence was great and the Chagall Duet beautiful. I also really liked Candle Song, Under the Sun and Change We Must. A good Cd to play in the car and sing along and have also dug out the earlier versions and played them too. Not necessarily better or worse - simply different.
