The 2002 Europe Music Awards were held at Palau Sant Jordi, Barcelona. Performances included a rendition of Dirrty from Christina Aguilera featuring Redman as they performed in a boxing ring with Christina sporting leather chaps. Pink, Bon Jovi and Foo Fighters each performed as did Coldplay and Eminem, both making their EMA debut. Winners on the night included Jennifer Lopez, taking Best Female for the second year running. The first track on Earth Sound System, In the Willows, features Greenwood mumbling over bent chords, like a grounded, broken-winged Spiritualized. The next track, Raga Joining, is a scraping jam, a drum machine bursting out of a flute in a rug warehouse. Earth Sound System offers a different vision of JOMF, but a lesser one. Greenwood and co. s impulses have grown disappointingly easy to dissect. Chevelle released their breakthrough album 'Wonder What's Next' in 2002, and the disc went on to achieve platinum certification. The success of the album is largely due to Chevelle's signature track, 'The Red. Wonder Whats Next' had a long and impressive ride after the its release, as the singles 'Send the Pain Below' and 'Closure' kept Chevelle going through a monumental period in the band's history.
