Bit a hidden gem here, if you dig Bee Gees first and numerous UK psych-tinged pop offerings of a similar vintage. No real heavy psychedelia here, but well crafted imaginative pop with multicoloured production shades abounds, along with a couple of harder mod fuzz freakbeaters. In fact, there isn't a real duffer on here, which is unusual for this short lived sub-genre, as most bands liked to throw a comedy bango/pub singalong number on, or some such waste of time and ear drums. Not our Johnny, who wrote most on here and covered wisely, with a couple of Bee Gees numbers along with fuzz versions of 'Come On Up' and 'Hold On' that inhabit late freakbeat territory with nice heavy guitars and distorted vocals, which are both great and the give the LP some hairy bollocks. The most ambitious track on here though has to be Johnny's own 'Geno Parts 1 & 2', which ambitiously combines breakbeat funky hammond modishness, heavy guitars, and psych flavours. Not easy to get, but shouldn't break the bank, as it still appears to be under the radar.
