Was Johnny Cash hitting the bottle hard in 1976? That's a question that always comes up when I spin this record.
From the disheveled cover image to the rambling essay about shooting trees with pistols on the back, this album is a confused mess. It's also surprisingly fun to spend time with.
Throughout the record, Johnny tells stories about gun fights, waitresses with purple hair and throws in a little Jesus for good measure. There's good stuff in here. There's also stuff that makes you shake your head and smirk. Either way, it's interesting.
