Roller Coaster Weekend is the debut solo studio album by the American recording artist Joe Vitale. It was originally released in 1974, on the label Atlantic. The album wasn't a commercial success and was his last solo album until 1981's Plantation Harbor released 7 years later. After the recording of Roller Coaster Weekend, Vitale would join the Stills-Young band and tour with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young line-up, as well as the Eagles. Roller Coaster Weekend. Vitales 1975 solo effort is essentially a studio collaboration between Walsh and Vitale, with contributions from Phil Keagy and Rick Derringer. Walsh clearly had a big influence on Vitales vision, and Roller Coaster Weekend is very much in the same vein as So What, the Walsh album that immediately precedes it. Vitale is more than a master drummer - here he plays synthesizer, bass, finger cymbals, flute, piano and vibraphone, in addition to singing in a style reminiscent of his collaborator-employer
