A follow-up to my last review--after doing some research,I have discovered the POSSIBILITY that these works are by j.c.F.Bach,as a set of parts for BOTH Concertos from the late 18th Century reside in the Berlin State Library with his name attached. The Librarian thinks this is a mis-identification.But,these works appear to be listed in the catalogue of J.C.F's under "other works."(Could be a heading which includes "spurious works",but I have now way to easily examine this list to be sure-nor do I have a way to see the catalogues of Benda and Hertel.(s)Still working on this, but I could use help from someone with more resources. These works DO,(also?) appear as by Hertel and Benda in the Berlin incipit index.Pretty sure that J.C.Bach can be ruled out, though.

The Harp.Concerto, along with one that accompanied it on another release,(by Odyssey in U.S.),are NOT Bach. This one is by J.C.Hertl,the other by George Benda.(G major)I am trying to contact anyone who can shed light as to how this mis-identification occured.(Angelicum-please contact me on this matter!)

I have enjoyed this LP very much. However I do not believe the Harpsichord Concerto was written by J.C.Bach. It is totally unlike any of his other works, even his 'Berlin' harpsichord concertos. My guess is that it was written by J.S.Bach's last pupil Johann Gottfried Muthel, although I cannot find any other recording of this work, or indeed any reference to this work on the Internet. Is anyone else familiar with this work from any other source? If so, does anyone have an opinion on who may have written it?
