Winter is coming, but the GRASSHOPPER AND THE ANTS have very different ways of preparing for it. While the ants are diligently storing food, the Grasshopper is only dancing around & playing his fiddle. When the snows come, perhaps he'll play a different tune. Aesop's Fables provided the source for this very enjoyable cartoon. The intricate labors of the ants give lots of interest for the eye. Oh, The World Owes Us A Living', the Grasshopper's song, would eventually become, with a slight revision, the theme for Goofy. Walt Disney's book. Oh, the world owes me a living, sings the lazy grasshopper as the ants. Preview - Walt Disney's by Margaret Wise Brown. Walt Disney's: The Grasshopper and the Ants. Margaret Wise Brown. This entertaining story of ants and a grasshopper provides children with a moral lesson. This story reveals the importance of having a strong work ethic. Those who work hard will eventually be rewarded in life. Nothing is handed to you so it is important to work hard to succeed in life. This is truly one of my favorite Disney Shorts. I had the record album and played it over and over and over when I was a child. I have tried to explain this story to my own sons who are 20 years old now and I could never quite capture the wonderful story, pictures and song. Oh how I wish I had kept my original vinyl. The ants get easily distracted by the grasshoppers fiddling, in a nice touch. It shows the audience that the work of the ants is not something they enjoy, but its still necessary
