King James Version, originally released by Sire Records on September 12, 2000, is the second full-length album by alternative rock band Harvey Danger. Although it garnered critical acclaim, it failed to produce a hit song, unlike the earlier Where Have All the Merrymakers Gone. After the release of King James Version, the band took a three-year hiatus. The album is characterized by a polished and energetic indie rock style and lyrics laden with historical, literary, and pop cultural allusions. James King was born Sept. 9, 1958, in Martinsville, Va. and grew up in Carroll County - one of the most fertile breeding grounds for bluegrass and old-time musicians.
