Hugh Blumenfeld born October 11, 1958 is an American folk musician and singer-songwriter from Connecticut. He was born in Jamaica, Queens, New York City, graduated with degrees in Biology and Humanities from . in 1980, and got a Masters in English Literature from the University of Chicago in 1981. He was active in the Greenwich Village music scene in the 1980s, attending the Cornelia Street Songwriters Exchange and performing at Folk City and Speak Easy while working on a PhD in Poetics from. As a singersongwriter for mostly adults, his songs are beautiful to listen to, and the lyrics are both moving and intelligent. This CD as well contains songs that run the gamut from upbeat, funny, sing-alongs to heartbreakingly poignant and haunting family stories we can relate to, even though our children are now adults. The title suggests Dad and Hugh is indeed a dad who knows of what he sings, but moms and children appreciate this as well.
