Info
The Book of Invasions: A Celtic Symphony is the sixth album by the Irish Celtic rock band Horslips. It was a concept album based on an adaptation of Irish legends built into a complex story. It is named for the Lebor Gabála Érenn, a book of Irish mythology known as The Book of Invasions in English. Released in 1976, it is usually considered their best work. It was their only UK top-40 album, peaking at 39. Trouble With a Capital T and The Power and the Glory were released as singles. CELTIC EPIC ORCHESTRAL MUSIC MEGAMIX - When The Morning Comes FULL ALBUM Celtic styles with rock. Book of Invasions is generally regarded as their best album, but since I hadn't heard everything from them, I can't say. The band consisted of Charles O'Connor on fiddle, mandolin, and concertina, Jim Lockhart on keyboards, flute and whistles, Berry Devlin on bass, John Fean on guitar, and Eamon Carr on drums. The Book Of Invasions is a concept record based on Celtic folklore and is made up of 3 movements which are split into several shorter tracks. As with previous records the band maintains their Celtic rock sound, although on this album it's done in a much more accessible style. That album, generally regarded as their weakest, somehow gave rise to this, perhaps their strongest. Returning to their original formula of rock & roll, folk, and prog rock, Book of Invasions rivals 1973's The Tain as their most consistent and creative, and established the band as that decade's preeminent purveyor of those three entwined genres. to the sun & Drive the cold winter Ride To Hell. The lyricism used in The Book of Invasions is fun, light, and the most Irish-oriented out of any Horslips album. But there is something more amazing than the lyricism: how well it is extended out by Charles O Connor, Jim Lockhart, John Fean, and Barry Devlin. Whats most unique about this album is the peak form of Celtic rock, which goes beyond roots and deep into tales of the Irish homelands. This had never been experimented with as vigorously in any other album produced in Irelands history before a highly revolutionizing step in the 1970s.
