Two for the Road is an album by jazz guitarists Herb Ellis and Joe Pass that was released in 1974. It was the third and last album that they recorded together. They complement each other quite well. Love for Sale Cole Porter 4:50. Carnival Manha de Carnaval Luiz BonfáAntonio Maria 3:29. This recording was the third and final matchup between guitarists Herb Ellis and Joe Pass and, unlike the first two which were both made for Concord, this is a duo date rather than a quartet session. Pass was just beginning to gain recognition for his remarkable unaccompanied solos, but Ellis had not recorded in such a sparse setting before. They complement each other quite well on such tunes as Love for Sale, Seven Come Eleven, Oh, Lady Be Good, I've Found a New Baby, and two versions of Cherokee. Herb Ellis & Joe Pass. Jazz 1974. Two for the Road was Herb Ellis and Joe Pass third album together, but the first one where they dropped their backing quartet and decided to go at it with just their two guitars. The lack of backing band is nice because every note and nuance from these two virtuosos can be heard clearly. Herb and Joe work together flawlessly, constantly weaving solo lines and comping chords together like poetry in motion and they never step on each others toes or sound clumsy. Although both take the time to show off ample technique, there is never any gratuitous shows of speed or pointless flash. 형식: Vinyl, LP, Album, greats for the road joe and herb are just what jazz guitar playing is all about.
