What Is There to Say is a 1959 album by Gerry Mulligan. All tracks composed by Gerry Mulligan except where indicated. What Is There to Say Vernon Duke, E. Yip Harburg 4:03. What Is There To Say - Gerry Mulligan Quartet. The last of the pianoless quartet albums that Gerry Mulligan recorded in the 1950s is one of the best, featuring the complementary trumpet of Art Farmer, bassist Bill Crow, and drummer Dave Bailey along with the baritonistleader. This recording is a little skimpy on playing time but makes every moment count. Virtually every selection is memorable, with What Is There to Say, Just in Time, Festive Minor, My Funny Valentine, and Utter Chaos being the high points. Gerald Joseph Gerry Mulligan April 6, 1927 January 20, 1996 was an American jazz saxophonist, composer and arranger. Though Gerry Mulligan is primarily known as one of the leading baritone saxophonists in jazz history - playing the instrument with a light and airy tone in the era of cool jazz - he was also a notable arranger, working with Claude Thornhill, Miles Davis, Stan Kenton, and others. Mulligan's pianoless quartet of the early 1950s with trumpeter Chet Baker is still regarded as one of the more important cool jazz groups. View wiki. Gerald Joseph Gerry Mulligan.
