Geoffrey Burgon's music for the television adaptation of Brideshead Revisited is gentle, harmonious, attractive and illustrative of the action on screen but possesses an emotional depth that lifts it beyond the banality of much soundtrack writing. Included in the compilation are several other works written for television, including the iconic score for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy starring Alec Guiness. The music is easy to listen to without falling into the 'Easy Listening' wasteland of many film scores. Burgon is a composer of great merit and deserves wider wo. Geoffrey Alan Burgon 15 July 1941 21 September 2010 was a British composer best known for his television and film scores. Among his most recognisable works are Monty Python's Life of Brian for film, and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Brideshead Revisited for television, the latter two earning Ivor Novello Awards in 1979 and 1981 respectively.
