One Nation Under a Groove is the tenth studio album by American funk and rock band Funkadelic, released on September 22, 1978 on Warner Bros. Recording sessions took place at United Sound Studio in Detroit, Michigan, with one song recorded live on April 15, 1978 at the Monroe Civic Center in Monroe, Louisiana. The album was the first album to include keyboardist and frequent songwriter Walter Junie Morrison. One Nation Under a Groove is the tenth studio album by American funkrock band Funkadelic. Released on September 22, 1978, the album was met with great critical and commercial acclaim, most notably due to the massive success of the title track. It marked a slight departure from their earlier work, with their signature rock-oriented, with the sound being traded for something more funkier and accessible to the masses. The album itself was their biggest one as well, as it peaked at 16 on the Billboard 200 and 1 on the Billboard R&B Albums chart. It was ranked at 177 on the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list from the Rolling Stone magazine. One Nation could have been a Parliament record, but Funkadelic needed a hit. The guitar solo made it more Funkadelic.
