As the follow-up to the band's influential debut We Rock Hard, which sold more than 150,000 copies in the U. alone and saw the group repeatedly tour the States with a 10-piece band, Pressure Point successfully mines two decades of hip-hop and dance music for hip-shaking rhythms and deep, emotion-baring soul. Reminiscent of Shaggy and Fatboy Slim hanging together on the Ibiza beach, Weekend Song, the album's first single, is funky pop gone dancehall courtesy of Tenor Fly. Pressure Point. Freestylers - Pressure Point 2001. To favorites 5 Download album. Listen album. Electronic Hip-Hop Breakbeat. Freestylers' second album follows much the same pattern as We Rock Hard, trading on varied Freestyler faves from ragga and rave to old-school rap and electro. Still, this trio of seasoned producers hardly sounds bored by the same old sound, and relatively unseduced by any recent developments in British club life. There's plenty of turntablist terror on the catchy intro, but also on what would've been just a standard R&B tune Told You So, with Petra Jean Phillipson. Wizard
After the hit "We Rock Hard", this second opus seems to be overlooked. However, the beats kept the same strength and the duo Tenor Fly & Navigator was still working on the mic.
This is basically the same formula as the first album. But the atmosphere is lighter, most of the tracks are more old-school oriented (especially in "London Sound" and "Signs").
In any case, the energy is here throughout the whole tracklist and you can't stop moving until the end.
"Pressure Point" was not really innovative, and that's what cost him a lack of recognization. Nonetheless, it's the type of album you play when you need to forget a bad day. It also composes a perfect soundtrack while playing video games. Extremely recommended blast.
