Strictly Genteel is a compilation album by Frank Zappa. It focuses on Zappa's classical and serious compositions, and as such is something of a companion to the previous Rykodisc-produced compilation, Strictly Commercial, which focused on rock songs with vocals. The Abnuceals Emuukha Electric Symphony Orchestra was conducted by Michael Zearott and made up of various live and studio musicians, most of which who had previously worked with Zappa on one of his many projects. They were assembled with the help of Mike Altschul and Earle Dumler who played on The Grand Wazoo and WakaJawaka albums. As I have always loved Zappas orchestra releases I am extremely grateful to hear this album the way it was meant to be heard. The original release was part of Zappas required number of LPs needed to get out of contract with Warner Brothers. Therefore it was not mastered to Franks specifications. The thirty seven piece orchestra was later dubbed the Abnuceals Emuukha Electric Symphony Orchestra by Frank himself. The music on the record is definitely an acquired taste. The fact that this album is solely orchestral makes it considerably different to the other albums Frank Zappa had out at the time. Frank Zappa feat.
