Released in I was exploring the library music relating to space I was shocked to see there were some Francis Monkman albums I had missed out on, amongst them one entitled Tempus Fugit. And it turned out to be quite something In fact, in the annus mirabilis of 1978 he made or perhaps contributed to no fewer than 5 records. Do we remember who he was I actually had to look it up, I thought he was with one of those generic british early proggers, it was actually the prolific band Curved Air he was a member of, which was too commercially watered down for my taste, and I guess after they disbanded he got. Francis Monkman shows great talent for his debut as a Library Music composer, after being a member of Curved Air, Renaissance and Sky. In few words, this LP is a ready-to-use score for action-driven movies with a fairly constant quality and creative songwriting e. the harpsichord appearing on few tracks such as Mystique is lovely. Propelled by nervous funky beats and catchy synthetic riffs, the A-side is a non-stop suite of dynamic songs with a distinct urbanfuturistic feeling: Strident Theme, Speed, G-Force and Live Action are t. Francis Monkman: English rock, classical and film score composer, and a founding member of both the progressive rock band Curved Air and the classicalrock fusion band Sky. He is the son of the late Kenneth Monkman, an authority on the writer Laurence Sterne, and of the late Vita nee Duncombe Mann. Work Of Art, Virtual Classic, Current Affairs и другие песни. Getting Ready has been used several times in sample-based hip hop and you can understand why. Some would call it 'muzak' but it's muzak of genius, very 70's/jazzy/lounge sounding and timeless at the same time. It kinda feels like watching an obscure 70's grindhouse movie: dubious but ultimately entrancing.
