Info

Luxury is the second studio album by Japanese musician Fantastic Plastic Machine. It was released on September 14, 1998 by Readymade Records in Japan, and later by Bungalow Records in Europe and Emperor Norton Records in the United States. Luxury is a continuation of Fantastic Plastic Machine's previous work in Shibuya-kei, though in some tracks there are indications of a shift towards house music with 1960s Northern Soul and 1970s Philadelphia soul, a path he explored more in his next album. Artist: Fantastic Plastic Machine Genre: Shibuya-Kei, Electronic, Dance. Release date: September 14, 1998. A really fun Fantastic Plastic Machine felt fresh and almost effortless, Luxury isn't the same glorious rush of sugary hooks and surprisingly elaborate beats. While Tanaka's productions are still impeccable, a few of the tracks feel aimless and repetitive the album starts with a nine-minute mix of There Must Be an Angel Playing With My Heart, which repeats the same hook ad infinitum and doesn't work nearly as well outside of a club. But with repeated listens, it becomes clearer that Tanaka is also trying to push the boundaries of his sound, exploring more down-tempo ter. Songs in album Fantastic Plastic Machine - Luxury 1998. Luxury, the second full outing from the Fantastic Plastic Machine, continues the vibe that was established on his eponymous debut. The loungified cover falls this time to The Eurhythmics’ “There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart),” and sure enough, it’s angelic (if a little too long). “Honolulu, Calcutta” is in-flight entertainment at its best, while “Bossa for Jackie” is quiet and sweet. “You Must Learn All Night Long” goes in an entirely different direction and throttles us with a percussion workout. Again, there are some weaker tracks (“I’ve Forgotten My Fagotto”), but the simple sunny fun of this album easily outshines them.
