BarNone's second collection of Esquivel tracks from the '60s, Music From A Sparkling Planet isn't quite as infectiously listenable as Space Age Bachelor Pad Music, containing nothing quite as mind-bending as the best moments of the first compilation. Nevertheless, there is plenty of wonderful music to found on the album, even though most of it sounds like pleasant soundtrack or elevator music, devoid of much of the quirkiness that fueled Space Age. Esquivel has been such a hit with lounge revivalists that a sequel to Space Age Bachelor Pad Music was undeniable. Music From a Sparkling Planet inevitably carries a heavy load of kitsch, and rightly so. This CD was the second compilation album of his material. It's not quite as good as the first one Space-Age Bachelor Pad Music, but it's still very good.
