The Chorale enjoyed an intermittent existence, being formed and re-formed on an ad hoc basis for national and international tours and several RCA Victor recordings, its personnel count ranging from around thirty to around sixty voices depending on repertoire requirements. Erna Berger is an absolutely perfect Gilda. Rigoletto's daughter is supposed to be a teenager and therefore, in my mind, should have a light, yet agile voice. I know that much heavier voices have successfully done Gilda with significant critical acclaim but to me lighter voice makes much more dramatic sense.
