Legao is the second solo album by Erlend Øye, recorded in Reykjavík, Iceland with Hjálmar, a local reggae group. It was released on 3 October 2014 via his own label Bubbles Records and No Paper Records. Legao is the pronunciation of the Portuguese word legal , which means great or cool. About the album, Erlend told Red Bull: It was recorded in Reykjavík in a studio that has been around since 1975, but for the last five years, it has been run by the band Hjálmar. They know how to record themselves in the studio, and theyre completely comfortable, so they didnt need very much time to get warm. Erlend Øye born 21 November 1975 is a Norwegian composer, musician, producer, singer and songwriter from Bergen, best known for being part of the indie folk duo Kings of Convenience, along with Eirik Glambek Bøe. He is the leader of the band The Whitest Boy Alive and he is the founder of the independent label Bubbles Records. He also contributed vocals on several tracks by Norwegian duo Röyksopp. Eleven years after his solo debut, Norwegian singersongwriter Erlend Øye returns with the winsome and laid-back Legao. Much has changed for the charismatic singer who, at the time of his 2003 debut, was in the midst of a deep electronic phase which was conversely bookended by two fine acoustic albums from his primary outlet, the folk-pop duo Kings of Convenience
