The Lateness of the Hour is the debut studio album by British singer Alex Clare. It was released on 8 July 2011 by Island Records. The album peaked at number 17 on the UK Albums Chart, number 8 on the German Albums Chart and number 48 on the US Billboard 200. The album includes the singles Up All Night, Too Close and Treading Water. All the songs on the album apart from a cover of Prince's When Doves Cry were co-written by Alex Clare.
