In a Major Way is the second studio album by American rapper E-40, released March 14, 1995 on Jive and Sick Wid It Records. It peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Top R&BHip-Hop Albums and at number 13 on the Billboard 200, selling 70,000 copies in its first week. The album is certified Platinum by the RIAA. The album features production by Funk Daddy, Kevin Gardner, Mike Mosley, Eugenius, Sam Bostic and Studio Ton. It also features guest performances by fellow members of The Click: B-Legit and Suga. E-40 made the most of what he had to work with at the time, though, and for a mostly in-house album, In a Major Way is an impressive showcase of the talent at hand. E-40's raps would improve over the years, as would his production stable and his recording budget, yet few albums in his catalog rival In a Major Way, which track-for-track is remarkably solid and thoroughly entertaining. In a Major Way is E-40s best-selling album, certified Gold in June of 1995 and Platinum seven years later in June of 2002. The album features guest appearances by B-Legit, Mac Shawn, Suga-T, 2Pac, Spice 1, Mac Mall, Levitti, Celly Cel and 40s son, Lil E. The cover of the album features E-40 cooking crack inside the face of a watch as timin' which is explained in the song Fed would be a recurring theme throughout the album. The album is perfect from start to end and it's got the two classic cuts : Sprinkle Me feat. Suga T and the one and only Dusted 'n' Disgusted, which has one of the TIGHTEST beats I've ever heard, combined with BREATHTAKING verses by the greatest rappers - SPICE 1, 2PAC, MAC MALL AND 40 WATER The album also features 40's long time partner B-Legit and also Mac. Though In A Major Way does include two songs I love. That being Sideways with B-Legit and Mac Shon, plus Dusted 'N' Disgusted featuring Mac Mall, Spice 1 and 2Pac, who steals the show on the song. For the whole album, it's just not for me, purely because I could never fully get into E-40. 5mo. Bay Area pioneer and legend E-40 released A LOT of albums in his 30-year career, this one may just be his very best.
