The Ultimate Review is a Duran Duran DVD region 0 PAL video, released by Classic Rock on 2nd May 2006. The video draws on rare live film from the archives, and chronicles the band from the early days in the 1980s. Sound - 9 Duran Duran are a New Wave musical group, active since the early 1980's. They had hits with the songs Rio , Girls On Film , Ordinary World and Hungry Like the Wolf , but aside from that, they are not a very well-known band. That's a shame, as Duran Duran are easily one of the more interesting forgotten bands of the era they belonged to. This album proves my point. More punk than pop, but still not close enough to the stereotyped Three chord hyperspeed general definition of punk rock music. This is the independent critical review of Duran Duran on record, on film and in concert. Part of the New Romantic scene during the eighties, the band went on to achieve a string of massive hit singles and albums. Drawing on rare live film from the archives, this powerful re-assessment of Duran Duran chronicles the band from the early days in the eighties and beyond. Greatest is a greatest hits compilation album by English new wavesynth-pop band Duran Duran, released in 1998. Greatest is an update of the 1989 tenth anniversary compilation album, Decade. The new release includes songs from their eponymous debut album through 1997's Medazzaland excluding 1995's Thank You. The album includes all 14 songs featured in Decade, plus New Moon on Monday and four singles from the '90s. Duran Duran. Duran Duran's eponymous debut artfully coalesced the sonic and stylistic elements of the burgeoning new romantic movement they were soon to spearhead: pumping synths, glossy production, and seemingly impossible haircuts. Ultra-smart singles like Girls on Film and Planet Earth became instant smash hits both in the U. and America, and other fine pop gems such as Anyone Out There and Careless Memories rounded out the album's stellar first side. Hearing Duran Duran sounding as good as they ever have with an exhilarating collection of expertly crafted pop is a pure joy. Every time a new Duran Duran album is released, there seems to be an almost irresistible compulsion for some writers to herald the comeback of the '80s pop heroes or some such nonsense. Quite simply, anybody who says that hasnt been paying attention - Duran Duran never left. Duran Duran once said it wanted to be the band that people were dancing to when the bomb dropped. Well, minus the Cold War reference, Paper Gods, which will be released Sept. 11 on Warner Bros. Records, would be a good selection if youre looking to dance into an apocalypse. But if youre looking for something like Durans classic 1982 Rio album here, you may be disappointed. This album is even a definite departure from 2011s All You Need Is Now, where producer Mark Ronson steered the band back to a more Rio -like sound to the delight of fans and critics at the time. In 2015, we find Duran Duran in a dark, funky mood. 1993 The Wedding Album. The Singles 81-85. Thank You. Dance Classics: The Ultimate Throwback Club Classics
