Info

Duffy Power born Raymond Leslie Howard 9 September 1941 19 February 2014 was an English blues and rock and roll singer, who achieved some success in the 1960s and continued to perform and record intermittently later. Ray Howard was born in Fulham, South West London. He was discovered in 1959 by impresario Larry Parnes, singing at a talent show with his group Duffy and the Dreamers. He was renamed Duffy Power in the style of Parnes' other discoveries, such as Billy Fury, Marty Wilde, Vince Eager. Most of the recordings on Blues Power were originally released on Power's self-titled album on the tiny U. Spark label in 1969. Duffy says in the liner notes of this reissue that the album was never intended for release, and that these sessions were acoustic demos for an LP that never got produced with the arrangements he had envisioned. That may be so, but it's still a worthy document of this underrated British bluesman at his most bare-boned and haunting. With just his guitar and harmonica, Power runs through both moody originals and covers of R&Bblues standards with The Be. Blues Power. He was lured into a studio to lay down a collection of his latest pennings ostensibly as demos with the promise of a proper studio album with full arrangements. Instead, the record label popped out the demos and reneged on the proper album. What this means is that most of the tunes feature Duffy accompanying himself on guitar and harmonica, with occasional piano assistance. It's very stark material. from the Album: Innovations 19651971 Duffy Power g, voc. Duffy Power - God Bless The Child mono - Продолжительность: 4:16 Eric VDB 362.
