This 10,5x14,9cm (5"x6") vinyl postcard has almost no run-in nor run-out groove. It won't play on automatic turntables for the diameter inside the zone after the last groove is hardly wider than 2" where standard 7" singles have almost 4" of space for the label. You may have a hard time placing the stylus right at the beginning of the recorded zone.Apart from that, it's a true pleasure being able to listen to the first physical release from Dubstar since "The Best Of Dubstar" back in 2004.

What a frustrating release for many fans.... 30 copies? Austria only? Do they have a signifigant fan base over there?! Great move for a British pop band. Perhaps I'm just bitter, but it might've been a nice gesture to distribute it via mp3 to their fans in their home country. Boooooo, Dubstar.

FunkSoulRebel I think we're all on the same side here... or at least we were. Firstly, I think many Dubstar lovers, who have been very excited at the prospect of new material, were a bit surprised (ie WTF?) by the RSD announcement. The motives may have been good, but it was an ill-thought-out PR move and has disenchanted DS fans whichever country they happen to live in. An MP3 distribution would have been fairer all round. Secondly, anfunny2003 is only expressing his/her opinion. You may not like it, but that is what freedom of speech is all about. One thing I think we can all agree on is that we're looking forward to the new album (assuming it's not released exclusively as a limited edition tablemat under a toadstool in a far-flung corner of the planet...) :)

I wouldn't know how good the track is, I can't hear it. I'm not reviewing the song, it's Discogs.com, I'm reviewing the format/release/edition.

anfunny2003, as with all Record Store Day releases it is a limited edition. The fact that there are only 30 just adds to the rarity. The band have been away for a while and this is just a small teaser before they return proper later this year with a brand new album. The fact that it came out in Austria was not a gesture against all the UK or worldwide fans but as a favour to a longstanding friend with a small record store and label. The bonus is that as only a handful were sold actually in the store most will be made available now to International fans via Discogs at face value. It's rather disappointing that you have chosen to give the release a 1 rating on this basis as it really is a great track.

This release, the first new song from Dubstar for about 12 years, is really something special. Firstly, the quality of the postcard is remarkably good as it's not the cheap pressed postcard style but a hard acrylic similar to a vinyl record. Still with the typical background noise but not enough to take away the pleasure of multiple listens. Secondly, the song itself is a beautiful track building from a haunting start to powerful finish. Still clearly the Dubstar sound but with a mature element befitting of their years of experience.
