Viva la Revolution is the third full-length album by Dragon Ash released in 1999. It is the first full-length album after Dragon Ash member DJ BOTS formally joined, creating the new hip hoprock amalgamation sound which they have since become known for. Progressively harder and angrier than their previous releases, Viva la Revolution established Dragon Ash as a major force in Japanese rock, based upon two monster singles, both here: Let Yourself Go Let Myself Go, a discordant slice of heavy hip-hop similar to the Beastie Boys' So What'cha Want, but featuring battling sample layers that shouldn't even work together, but do and Grateful Days, a soulful number based around a lyrical riff from Smashing Pumpkins, swirling strings, and the frisson of vicious-sounding rapper Zeebra and soul diva AC. 2014 г. dragon ash - viva la revolucion seleccion victor music entertaiment. Dragon Ash started out from humble punk beginnings to become one of the brightest groups in the growing New Japanese Rock movement in the late '90s, blending pop sensibilities with a hard-edged sound, producing albums and singles that play like a tour of Western rock of the '90s. Lead singer and guitarist Kenji Furuya, son of actor Ikko Furuya, met drummer Makoto Sakurai when they were junior high students in a Tokyo suburb, and the two started playing together. I first heard Viva La Revolution while living in Japan. The thing that struck me the most was Dragon Ash's ability to capture their live performance energy and tight sound into a studio-made CD. The sample of Smashing Pumpkin's Today on the Grateful Days track is brilliant. This CD never fails to attract attention whenever I put it on, even though most can't understand the testament to it strong sampling and hip hop beats Dragon Ash is a great new breed of J-Pop talent Read more.
