Текст песни: You know the hollywood sign That stands in the hollywood hills I dont think the christ of the andes Ever blessed so many ills. Hunky Dory Irish TV program based on the show 'Children Of Coincidence, 1980. Mary C. Brown & The Hollywood Sign by Dory Previn featuring Colm Wilkinson. original lyrics from 1971 album Mythical Kings and Iguanas. You know the hollywood sign that stands in the hollywood hills i don't think the christ of the andes ever blessed so many ills the hollywood sign seems to smile like it's constantly saying cheese i doubt if the statue of liberty ever welcomed more refugees. give me your poor your tired your pimps you carhops your cowb. The obvious question is why, in its welcome reissue of the United Artists recordings of Dory Previn, British label BGO packaged her fourth and first albums together, in that order preceded by her second and third ones in a separate release. The dubious answer is, the first album's release in Britain was delayed until after the second, third, and fourth ones had come out, so the reissues replicate the U. order of release. Brown and the Hollywood Sign was the fourth solo LP by Dory Previn, released in November 1972. This was a thematic album about Hollywood misfits. The songs were intended for a musical revue that ran briefly in Los Angeles. Robert Christgau, writing in Creem, panned the album, saying Previn doesn't just belabor a cliche, she flails it with barbed wire. Mary cecilia brown Rode to town on a malibu bus She climbed to the top Of the hollywood sign And with the smallest possible fuss She jumped off the letter h 'cause she did not become a star She died in less than a minute and a half She looked a bit like hedy lamarr. Sometimes i have this dream When the time comes for me to go I will climb that hill And i'll hang myself From the second or third letter o. When mary cecilia jumped She finally made the grade Her name was in the obituary column Of both the daily trades. You know the hollywood sign The witness to our confusion A symbol of dreams Turns out to be A sign Of disillusion. More on Genius. Dory Previn. Soundtrack , 1972. Brown and the Hollywood Sign. Holy Man On Malibu Bus Number Three. The Midget's . Brown & The Hollywood Sign. The Holy Man on Malibu Bus Number Three. The Midget's Lament. On My Way To Where was released in 1970, shortly after Previn emerged from hospital where she had been treated for schizophrenia. Many of the songs were written by her as a form of self-help. The most famous and wonderfully candid moment on this album is Beware Of Young Girls. Mia Farrow had insinuated herself into the lives of Dory and her husband, Andre Previn. This gentle, sad, but unself-pitying song recounts how Mia betrayed Dory by breaking her marriage. Upon its release, Ms Farrow went into print to call the song tasteless. Artist: Dory Previn.
