Like It Is, Was, and Evermore Shall Be is a compilation album from Scottish singer-songwriter Donovan. It was released in the US Hickory LPM 143 mono LPS 143 stereo in April 1968. Like It Is, Was, and Evermore Shall Be marked the second Hickory Records compilation of Donovan's 1965 Pye Records material in the United States, following the moderately successful The Real Donovan from 1966. For its second repackaging of its 1965 material, Hickory used a fashionable psychedelic cover in an effort to make Donovan fans think this was a new album. Actually containing his three hits, Catch the Wind, Colours, and Universal Soldier, it was the strongest selection of his material yet assembled on one disc, even if most fans already had these recordings. Donovan born Donovan Philips Leitch, 10 May 1946 is a Scottish singer, songwriter and guitarist. Initially labelled as an imitator of Bob Dylan, Donovan quickly developed an eclectic and distinctive style that blended folk, jazz, pop, psychedelia, and world music notably calypso.
