Info
Heartbreaker is the twentieth solo studio album by Dolly Parton. It was released on July 17, 1978, by RCA Victor. Released following the huge pop crossover success of Here You Come Again, Heartbreaker was designed as an even more direct aim at the pop charts, with several of its songs verging on disco. The title song, a ballad written by Carole Bayer Sager, topped the U. country charts, and became Parton's third top-forty pop hit, while the follow-up single was the double-A-sided Baby I'm Burnin. In the year since Dolly Partons widely publicized crossover from the country genre to the MOR mainstream, the quality of her music has gone dramatically downhill while her fame vaults toward the tinsel regions of instant media celebrity. Actually, the quality hasnt gone downhill as much as its disappeared completely. By the time you get to Dolly Partons straight-faced duet with some syrup-voiced male vocalist on Were Through Forever Til Tomorrow, Heartbreaker has moved from the realms of lower-kitsch into something along the lines of a dead-singer joke.
