A Thing Called Divine Fits is the debut studio album by AmericanCanadian indie rock band Divine Fits. The album was recorded in Los Angeles in a backyard studio with producer Nick Launay between March and May 2012. It was released on August 27, 2012 in Europe and August 28, 2012 in North America on Merge Records. The first single, My Love Is Real, was released on July 31, 2012. Divine Fits, the project of Spoon's Britt Daniel, Wolf Parade, and Handsome Furs' Dan Boeckner, and New Bomb Turks' Sam Brown defies all of these expectations, in large part because their debut album, A Thing Called Divine Fits, sounds far too natural, and not nearly showy enough, to be seen as the work of a supergroup. The trio's seamless blend of Boeckner's new wave-y synth pop and Daniel's precision-tuned rock was hinted at with A Thing Called Divine Fits' lead single My Love Is Real, and that song's starkly, darkly catchy vibe contains th. A Thing Called Divine Fits might seem the Platonic ideal of indie rock collaboration, but the most memorable moments have Boeckner's signature. On the woozy, swaggering Baby Get Worse, the guy who penned This Heart's on Fire mixes artistic and romantic separation anxieties, pleading, my heart was beating in and out of time.
