Milo Goes to College is the first full-length album by the American punk rock band the Descendents, released in 1982 through New Alliance Records. Its title referred to singer Milo Aukerman's decision to leave the band to attend college, and its cover illustration introduced a caricature of him that would go on to become the band's mascot. It was the Descendents' last record with founding guitarist Frank Navetta, who quit the band during the hiatus that followed its release. Milo Goes to College is the 1982 debut full-length release by American punk band Descendents. It was released on New Alliance Records and reissued by SST Records in 1987. SPIN Magazine rated the album one of the top all time hardcore albums. Sputnikmusic also ranked this album 1st among highest rated punk albums of 1982. It was the Descendents' last record with founding guitarist Frank. Songs in album Descendents - Milo Goes to College 1982. The Descendents' debut album, Milo Goes to College, is one of the most important records in the history of American punk rock. Building on the Ramones' outsider lore and sidestepping the machismo that was already starting to seep into the punk scene, the California group proudly embraced their awkwardness with anthems of alienation like Suburban Home and Myage, helping to build the template from which legions of pop-punk and emo disciples would learn their craft. Milo Goes to College Descendents. Milo Goes to College is the first LP by the American punk rock band the Descendents, having been preceded by 1981s Fat EP. The album was released in 1982 through New Alliance Records. The cover illustration is a caricature of Milo Aukerman that would go on to become the bands mascot. It was the Descendents' last album with founding guitarist Frank Navetta, who quit the band during the hiatus that followed its release. Navetta would return for one song on 1996s Everything Sucks. The album is one of the first melodic punk albums ever and one of the most important. Artwork Jeff Atkinson. Bass Tony Lombardo. Drums Bill Stevenson. Guitar Frank Navetta. Producer, Engineer Spot. And indeed, since he was heading off to do just that, the Descendents bowed out the earliest phase of its existence with another collection of blink-and-you'll-miss-it songs about life, love, girls, losers, and, of course, food. Starting with the classic rip-and-riff of Myage, which started a long-standing trend of Descendents songs ending with -age, the four-piece pureed everything it loved - pop hooks, punk and hardcore thrash, and whatever else it enjoyed - and came up with an unpretentious, catchy winner. Descendents Format: Audio CD. Singer Milo Aukerrman-who really was off to college after recording it-yelps I'm Not a Punk and I'm Not a Loser with such desperation that it's almost touching. Then again, the nyah-nyah attitude that crops up just about everywhere else marks him as the sorta guy who'd probably pick your pocket as you were looking for a hankie to help dry those eyes. Great album because like Liveage it contains my favourite Descendents song 'Hope' as well as Suburban Home making it a fantastic buy. Myage 2. I Want To Be A Bear 3. I'm Not A Loser 4. Parents 5.
